The 2013 Edinburgh Cup will take place over the 25th to 28th June at the WPNSA Weymouth. It will act not only as the all important British Dragon nationals, but also as an opportunity for entrants for the Worlds in September to sharpen their skills on the same waters. We shall be using the same race management team as for the Worlds and it will also give them the chance to manage the Dragon fleet effectively. We look forward to seeing you there!

Avalanche Victorious At Burnham East Regatta

Congratulations to Mark and Mandy Wade and Andrew "Noddy" Norden on their victory in the 2011 Burnham Easter Regatta.  David Hall, crewed by Geoff Butcher and Julie Thomas-Page had been putting in some practice in Sanremo and returned with great speed to push the Wades to the limit, eventually taking second place by just two points, while third place went to Rob Campbell crewed by Jonathan Hill and Matt Walker a single point further back.

Ten races over four days gave the teams a great start to the season.  Three visitors from Abersoch joined the fleet plus Charles Cronin from the Solent and Claire and Julian Sowery from the Medway.  The first two days featured club line starts and river courses which gave the visitors plenty to think about.  In fact their lack of familiarity proved to be something of an advantage as they paid far more attention to their echo sounders and as a result spent rather less time aground than the locals did.  On Sunday and Monday racing took place on windward leeward courses to provide a good mix of styles.  The weather was unseasonably warm and this combined with a light to moderate breeze to give perfect conditions for the season opener.

The weekend also featured the official opening of the new Royal Corinthian pontoon which features a much wider platform, launching ramps for the dinghies.
