Lowestoft Fleet Spring Report

April 08 - All hands to the pumps, as it were, organising this years East Coast Championships over the winter months. We have tried hard to ensure this event is an enjoyable one, and hopefully we have thought of everything – even down to bikes and baby sitters!!

One of our members who lives by the beach south of Lowestoft has gamely volunteered his house and grounds for our Saturday night ‘Bash on the Beach’, and we have a catering team ‘par excellence’ in place, and musicians – but sadly no dancing girls – the club ladies drew the line at that!

We have a well-respected PRO in Ben Falat – so we should have some good racing! And you never know global warming may come to Lowestoft and we could all break out the cozzies and get suntans! Can pigs fly?

We are having some good support so far for the event, but we could do with a few more entrants to make it really viable and interesting – and lets not forget what we all keep ranting on about – if we don’t get ‘off our butts’ and support the regional and national championships, then we will not survive either as club fleets or as a BDA.

For the rest of the season the RNSYC will have its normal Saturday racing, with our June regatta coming soon after the East Coasts on the 14th and 15 th June, and Sea Week from Mon 11th August to 15th August – always a friendly social event.

We have a fleet of 10 Dragons this year with hopefully more racing participation, as for most of last year many class members did overseas regattas.
