Burnham Week Bank Holiday Weekend saw a fleet of three Dragons take to the line on Saturday 29 August. With wind forecast to increase later in the day racing was restricted to three beats up the Roach to a laid inflatable mark.
Flag X-ray was displayed at the start and two boats decided to restart. First Beauty and the Beast (Peter, Katie, Noddy) and when flag X-ray stayed up, Dublin Bay (Rob, David, Andrew, Julie) went back. Still Crazy (Ian, Heath, Rene) benefitted from their superior start and lead home from Beauty then Dublin Bay largely unchallenged.
On Sunday, a longer, more traditional, Burnham Week course for Dragons was set sending the small fleet to the Crouch buoy twice. Starting was a little better with two boats on the line, but Beauty just far enough back to miss out on the photo of the start! At mark one the order was Dublin Bay, Still Crazy, Beauty but the order was reversed by the finish for Beauty to record the win.
Bank Holiday Monday was another long course with wind over tide making it choppy and wet racing. The long first leg was influential, with Beauty running down river on the North bank while Still Crazy and Dublin Bay took the South bank. Beauty proved to have made the correct call and record a second race win and win the weekend from Still Crazy in second.
