British Dragon Association AGM & Dinner 2024: A Night to Remember

The much-loved British Dragon Association (BDA) AGM and annual dinner returned to the prestigious Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge, delivering another memorable evening for members and guests. The event welcomed a fantastic turnout, with representatives from the British national fleets and international guests from Ireland joining together to reflect on the successes of the 2024 season and look ahead to an exciting year in 2025.

A Productive AGM and Plans for 2025

The evening began with the AGM, where key topics were discussed, including the 2025 racing calendar, participation initiatives, and the continued growth of the Dragon fleet. The meeting highlighted the successes of 2024, including standout events and the strides made in increasing participation regionally and nationally.

An Evening of Celebration

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the coveted Citron Trophy and Corinthian Citron prize, recognising the best cumulative performance at BDA events in the preceding year.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity for sailors to share stories, reconnect, and toast to the camaraderie and community within the Dragon fleet.

Congratulations to Edwin Hannant and Quentin Strauss who both won the Katie Cole/Dragon Servicing vouchers.

The North spinnaker was won by Phormerly Phantom, Chris Thomas from Abersoch.

Looking Back on 2024

As dinner was served, guests were treated to a reflective video showcasing the highlights of the 2024 season. From thrilling racing action to the many social moments that brought the fleet together, the video captured the spirit of the Dragon community. Link to watch the video below.

A Special Guest Speaker

The evening concluded with a short, engaging after-dinner talk from Peter Bowring, a travelling guest from the Royal St. George Yacht Club in Dublin.

As the evening drew to a close, there was a sense of excitement and optimism for the year ahead. The AGM and dinner once again proved to be a highlight of the calendar, bringing together the Dragon sailing community to celebrate achievements, foster connections, and plan for the future.
