The YJA Yachtsman of the Year Award 2023 is being presented tomorrow at BoatLife show in Birmingham. Dragon sailor and current Edinburgh Cup and Gold Cup champion, Lawrie Smith is among the shortlisted nominees. 

The Yachtsman of the Year has been a highlight of the yachting calendar since it was founded in 1955 by the late Sir Max Aitken, chairman of Express Newspapers and himself a leading yachtsman. 

Previous winners of the award include Sir Ben Ainslie, Alex Thomson, Ian Walker, Pip Hare, Nick Craig, Dee Caffari, Harold Cudmore, Ellen Macarthur, and Sir Chay Blyth.
