Abersoch (North Wales) Dragon Fleet
Based at South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club in the fabulous Cardigan Bay in North wales the current 11 strong boats get the best one design racing available in North West England & North Wales .
The club offers a full range of facilities including restaurant, bar, sun terrace with spectacular views over the bay offer the best support to racing available linked into the buzzing holiday village of Abersoch.
Access within 2/3 hours to major conurbations of Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham makes the major destinations of the fleet although present sailors travel from London , other parts of South East and Yorkshire & Ireland to race in the fleet .
The fleet was regenerated in 2009 and has gone from strength to strength. It has a mix of national and world champions racing alongside enthusiastic newcomers and old hands with the attraction being of excellent racing at competitive cost to modern day dinghies or handicap yacht racing.
We warm up with Easter, kicking off with main club racing starting in May and being every two weeks until September. Racing is normally two races back to back windward leeward course either committee boat, club line or gate starts.
Always timed to allow beach time and finish to enjoy the lively bar sun terrace and restaurant our hospitality is famous and the dragon fleet knows how to race and party hard.

The Abersoch Dragon Fleet and SCYC has hosted the prestigious Edinburgh Cup on a couple of occasions in recent years; 2012 and 2019, and has agreed to do so again in 2024. At previous events World and Olympic sailors have travelled to Abersoch, a little corner of Welsh heaven, from such far flung places as Australia, USA and Japan, not to mention mainland England. The Abersoch Dragon fleet hopes for the same exceptional attendance in July 2024.
