You are invited to the Edinburgh Cup 2021 in Edinburgh

The Royal Forth Yacht Club (RFYC) invites you to enter the Edinburgh Cup 2021. Royal Forth sailors won the Edinburgh Cup seven times between 1964 and 1994 and is proud to have the only Dragon fleet remaining in Scotland.

Our website is live for entries and we can confirm that Bluebottle K192, the royal Dragon built in 1948, restored by David Heritage Racing Yachts and now under the care of the Royal Yacht Britannia Trust, is the first entrant and will be sailed by multiple Edinburgh Cup winning couple Graham & Julia Bailey.

The Covid 19 situation continues to evolve but we anticipate that this will have minimal, if any, effects on the racing itself but the nature of social events remains to be confirmed. Nonetheless we hope they will be broadly similar to those publicised for the event last year, including an evening reception aboard the former Royal Yacht Britannia.

Those wanting somewhere memorable to stay can enjoy a special rate for accommodation aboard Fingal , the former Northern Lighthouse Board vessel now converted into a luxury floating hotel near Britannia. Further details on accommodation can be found here >

Our base in Granton Harbour, Edinburgh, provides pontoon berthing and easy access to the magnificent open waters of the mid Firth, which is uninterrupted by large islands or commercial traffic, against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat. The starting area is within approximately 1.5M of the harbour mouth.

British Dragon East Coast Championship 2021 Announcement

The British Dragon Association have put plans for an East Coast Championship at Ramsgate run by the Royal Temple Yacht Club on hold.

With the RTYC getting back to sailing after the lockdown, and significant input from the Port of Ramsgate required to help with planning the event, it became clear that it would be more suitable for one of the established East Coast Dragon Fleets to host this year’s event.

As the most recent East Coast Championship was Medway in 2019 it falls to the Burnham fleet to organise the 2021 event.

The Royal Corinthian Yacht Club are pleased to play host over the weekend of 25th and 26th September 2021. These dates allow any potential visitors to crane in on Friday 24th and lift out after racing on Sunday 26th.

Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions will be posted as soon as possible along with additional information that visitors may need on this website.
